Resolution #8: Socialize; catch up with old friends, make new friends. Be less dependent on existing social circle

Done and done! Let's recap...

Sipping delectable dessert wine at quaint french cafe Le Bistrot du Sommelier along Armenian Street followed by potent cocktails at The Library x V1/K/friends; long overdue supper at Jalan Kayu + talking for hours (God I've missed J.LML); stuffing our faces at Sun with Moon x the makeupgroup; gorging on yummy tapas and downing inappropriately-named (I thought H was the most uncommon name in the world, I couldn't have been more wrong) mojitoesque drinks  at Bodega y Tapas x the COT; sumptuous yumcha x N/P/M at Lei Garden and dinner with IJ girls M/J/J this Wednesday!

Hitting the Andy Warhol-Studio 54 theme party at The Art Bar/Butter Factory x the girlz #vicanda in full-on glam mode - think Bianca Jagger in her heyday - vintage Frank Usher Grecian goddess gown (from my 21st), vintage gold belt & clutch, brown suede heels with gold straps. Glowing skin, smoky gold/bronze eyeshadow, cat eyeliner, red lips and retro curls pinned up on my right/cascading down my left. Even the unexpected presence of the Irish couldn't bring me down.

I think the dark clouds are finally passing.

It's only January and already I've managed to catch up with various social circles absent in 2013. This year has gotten off to a good start. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

I should add #15: Try new things to my list of resolutions; too easy to get stuck in a Club St/Kyo/life in general rut... Loved the impromptu catchup x SMc at Jigger & Pony last night. Am usually so harried rushing from one social event to another that it felt thoroughly refreshing to sit at a bar and chat over cocktails (sans time constraint)

Plus I want to check out these places (additions anticipated):
House of Dandy
The Spiffy Dapper
Tippling Club
The Secret Mermaid

Bitters & Love
Oxwell & Co
The Black Swan/The Powder Room

Maison Ikkoku
The Horse's Mouth
Oh, I've just booked my ticket to Laneway this Saturday - Whoop whoop to losing my music festival virginity! Hmm, I wonder what to wear...

wed - tequila night
in the midst of drowning our sorrows, lou and i nearly finished a bottle of tequila between us. inititally, i drew lines on my cardboard drawer (to mark the number of shots we'd consumed) with a marker but the tequila took over... all i can say is, i lost count at #4.

thurs - hangover
i woke up with the worst headache known to mankind. everything hurt. it hurt to think, let alone move. i kept chanting inwardly: don't think. just close your eyes and try to fall sleep. after throwing up twice, i swore never to touch tequila or lemon ever again. okay, at least for a month. as i half-knelt/doubled over the toilet seat, a little voice in my head taunted me, asking if the pain was worth the pleasure. trust me, it SO wasn't.

i actually took an entire day to recover, i know, i'm surprised myself. i lay in bed all day like some sick puppy, not moving or thinking. it was harder than you'd imagine.

fri - efteling theme park (flash, emmi, sarah)
rollercoasters, cotton candy, an unlimited amount of screaming, my clothes getting soaked - yup, my kinda PG fun in the sun.

sat - singel 404 + ribs at that restaurant i don't know the name of (lou & hk girls)
offical good food day. that's all i can say... and that i was wearing a supermini dress. i swear some guys walking past called out "lend her some money". if they were trying to be creative/funny, i think they meant i couldn't afford a longer dress. ahh whatevs.

sun - picnic at a park, canal biking, the trut (alternative gay bar)
i woke up early to make my famous garlic prawn pasta and fruit crepes, lou had a big bag full of goodies. together we set off to do as the dutch do; to lunch in style, drifting along a canal in a cute little boat. along the way, we got distracted by a festival of sorts, it looked so lively and lovely that we promptly got off (the tram) and joined in. sitting in a shade, nibbling strawberries dipped in maple syrup and sipping wine, watching little boats go by - it was the perfect way to spend a sunday...

for the next two hours, we proceeded to get lost trying to find the canal bike-renting place then we almost got ourselves killed, in our failed attempts at steering it. picture this: us on the wrong side of the canal, floating in the path of a MASSIVE canal cruise charging at us (that's a bit of an overstatement), lou laughing his head off at god knows what and me screaming like a raving lunatic. it was singlehandedly the most embarrassing thing to happen this year. people seated at cafes along the canal were watching, and undoubtedly laughing. not to mention, we also got stuck - sideways - in a canal.

p/s: i don't even know how many floating houses we banged into. sorry!

we had famous dutch pancakes at the pancake bakery. sad to say, my mexican tasted more like sweet and sour chicken. blah.

the trut was an eye opener; so many beautiful men, all gay. le sigh. i've never felt so overdressed and ... straight in my life. i'm saying that like it's a bad thing. jesus. i wore my mum's vintage cape with gold trim, it was so so gorgeous, i received compliments from just about everyone *beams* fyi, i've never had to wait in line (so damn long) to enter a bar before and the place is too underground - we almost couldn't didn't find it.

+ the crowd is cute, - the toilets are vile. if i wasn't drunk, i don't think i would've dreamed of stepping into their loos, or touching the toilet seat without disinfecting it first. lou and i managed to befriend the very blond (nick-carter-when-he-was-cute-lookalike/czech) j&j (flicky blond fringe/swede) and 2 random guys on bikes outside the trut, post-closing time. our plan was to continue partying hearty with our newfound strangers but it was a sunday and frankly, amsterdam is dead on a sunday. we had no choice but to bid adieu and cab home.

alas! on our week in amsterdam, we meet some genuinely cool people. where was this social life 6 months ago?

mon - picking up of MVV + laserguns
by the time i picked up my MVV (residence permit), i was informed it would be valid for, all of 2 days. whoopee. the lady gave me a handbook on my MVV, i promptly threw it in the bin on my way out. laser gunning was a blast; i felt like a kid again, screaming my brains out, just because. pity i wasn't feeling well, in fact all the physical activity made me feel worse. it made for great facebook photos though.

tues - day at the beach
i cancelled on flash in lieu of staying at home to recuperate. good call. when he told me he brought champagne, i died a little inside.

wed - packing/mint party
yawn. three little piggies walked all the way home. bonus: watching F (who has 'it's britney bitch' as his ringtone) dancing his ass off onstage and gyrating up to some guy. classic. always fun to witness teachers gone wild.

thurs - spent the day with anne (bakery/westerpark) + bbq
the bakery was adorable, we ordered an assortment of pastries on a tray and sat in the backyard to bask in the sunshine. i've learnt: when the sun comes out, so do the dutch. strawberry cake, brownies, a scone, lemon cake, fresh cream, a bonbon and little chocolate drops. divine.

we walked to westerpark (a recommendation by one of the guys on a bike) and parked our bums on a bridge (i don't know what else to call it) with our feet dangling over a pond. we sat and talked for hours, before moving to a huge padded swing in front of a cafe/restaurant, sipping lemonades. i was so brown from all the sun exposure; though my tanlines promptly stopped mid-thigh, at the hem of my minidress, which was a little weird.

lastly, we went to fullup's bbq. here's what i've discovered, the fundamental difference between asians and europeans is: at an asian bbq, we eat until the food runs out, and there are ALWAYS second, third and fourth helpings, if not more. at a european bbq, people hardly eat at all, in fact talking/drinking seems to take precedence. i was stunned speechless. there i was, stuffing my face with salmon and spicy chicken wings and everyone else had already moved onto dessert.

fri - sex and the city
seasons 1 to 5 never aired in sg, so this is officially my first time watching SATC and i must say, i'm lovin' it.

sat - packing/dinner with lou
i lured lou out with the tempting offer of dinner at one of our fav restaurants - on me. i had the salmon and chips with garlic sauce, while he had turkey noodles in thai-style curry. oh, we had the saddest farewell, both of us walked away with tears in our eyes. i'm gonna miss him so much.

sun - packing
more packing; deciding what stays and what goes. always tough for me, what with my karang-guni tendencies. more SATC. i've decided, i'm a cross between carrie and charlotte. i even had my own mr BIG plus i'm interested in journalism, talk about living parallel lives (mine is still missing the fabulous party invites, lunches/brunches and sextalk with girlfriends + designer shoes) someday...

mon - leaving
i would love to see van gogh + stop by wagamamas to say hello/goodbye to j&j + visit vondelpark (it's all in the vicinity) and maybe make a final trip down to singel 404, if i can find my way there without getting lost. we'll see. their iced coffee is fantastic, def worth getting lost over.

pop! six! squish! cicero! uh-uh! lipshitz!

long overdue post.

18th january 2008, our last night together

the night kicked off with a bang (of a gun). a click. a tap. several splits, a handful of feathers and an army of half-naked men and women, prancing around onstage in their undergarments.

pop! six! squish! cicero! uh-uh! lipshitz!

sound familiar? yes indeed, we went to watch CHICAGO! the musical, at cambridge theatre. after that scintillating performance and simultaneous display of beautiful people/voices, we.. or at least i, felt the urge to spontaneously kick up my heels and start dancing along the streets - a concept not too foreign to me, but one that is likely to emerge only after a couple of drinks *grin*

which i had, and then some.

boys and girls, vodka + wine = NO x 100. remember this equation and remember it well, to avoid doing what i did (for as long as you live), which is... *drumroll*

......

PUKING ON A BUS.

but we'll get back to that later. post-chicago, we headed back to alex's to wait for love and danai, picking up some alcohol - from one of those shops around the corner - along the way. funny, i'd never been a fan of drinking pre-clubbing, usually reserving inebriation upon my arrival at the club, till now. mandi mixed up some vodka+orange for us, i had a glass or two, washed down by some wine (which tasted soo good i couldn't resist helping myself to more). uh-oh. note: mixing drinks is always a bad idea, pity i had to discover this the hard way.

anything after that is one big fat mess.

i remember leaving alex's, swigging the last bit of vodka straight from the bottle right before running into earl's court tube station, taking photos on the train (mandi smuggled alcohol in her coat or something like that right?), exiting god-knows-where, love and i singing "it's not a love song" at the top of our lungs (seriously, not even humming, we were practically yelling like bloody drunkards - well, me, not she) while walking arm in arm down the street to... somewhere.

honestly, i don't know where we were headed to or how we ended up where we did. in the past, when someone asked me if i was drunk, i could shrug it off easily because i was well aware i had never been completely-out-of-it before. high? yes. drunk? no.

now all there is left to say is: i have never been so drunk in my life.

i can't believe i had fun and the music wasn't even r&b/hiphop! i vaguely recall the red hot chilli peppers and us jumping up and down like mad. the following will be in point form because mandili clued me in the morning after, i don't actually remember this while it was happening.

fyi: i wondered what kept me going all night. now i know! we continued drinking at the club, i don't know what, except that it was a pinkish liquid, the colour of cranberry. given my state, i shouldn't have been allowed to get within a mile radius of anything remotely alcoholic, but i was, and i did.

1. i lost my balance for the millionth time and yanked on red&whitestripedshirt guy to stabilise myself, who turned around, gave us a funny smile and did some weird hand tugging action, supposedly imitating me

2. mandi nicked a blue cap off some guy's head. (i was told) i took it and promptly dropped it on floor.

3. mandi put ice down some guy's shirt.

4. i did some destiny's child-type-bootylicious-bum-movement (mandi described it as a standing up/vertical lapdance) on some dude. i was completely unaware he was right behind me! cute guy though, i heard. from iceland? (said mandi)

5. when lili and i went to the loo she heard me from the inside of the cubicle going "lili, i can't stand up!" and immediately started banging on my door, trying to get me out. i eventually managed to get my limbs to behave and exit the cubicle without having to break down the door.

6. i bumped into like 20 people, min. that night. lili kept running after me and apologising (oh god. *shakes head* i'm SO sorry) on my behalf

7. i kept falling backwards and reached out for support, lili leaned forward doing the hand actions as if she were reeling me in on a fishing line. cute.

people must've thought: trashed asian chick. though at that point, i was so far gone i doubt i could even tell you my name. i am SUCH a lightweight. tsk. mummy would NOT approve. well *shrugs* what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

we stayed till closing time. the lights went on. we got our coats and left. for some reason i was squatting outside the club? perhaps my feet were hurting from my new boots? lili remarked "we look like we're from mainland china." were we waiting for a bus? i don't know. i think we were.

the girls were about to get me a plastic bag because i started complaining "i'm not feeling well" when the bus came. we got on, i sat down and nodded off. the wobbliness (can't think of another word) of the bus kinda shook me awake. it was then i felt really sick. the girls had anticipated this the second we left the club and tied my hair up in preparation.

mandi: "sweetie, not in the aisle, do it on the inside." and so, i did the deed.

not my finest hour i admit. i am ashamed. this never would've happened in singapore. good thing london is so big, hopefully no one in that club/on that bus recognizes me. by the way, if you're thinking of puking on public tranport - take it from me, don't. hardly the most glamorous way to end a night out.

list of things to do before i die
best friend holding up hair as one throws up done.

losing my v-plate (vomit plate) in public done and done. double tick for that

we got off the bus. someone (either mandi/lili) magically appeared with water for me to wash out my mouth and hands. thank you so much. lili guarded me as i squatted on the floor, waiting for the girls to get back from buying food nearby. some guy walked past, offered us french fries and told lili "you should take her home." i think she just gave him a look. hee

when they returned, mandi told me i kept pleading "don't leave me.. don't leave" over and over while walking home, like a little lost puppy. she was afraid she had hurt me cause she literally clamped me to her side and dragged me home - i couldn't stand, let alone walk.

the grand finale

we made it back, safe and sound - in one piece (ref. to self) i took my shoes off, lay on the bed and that was it. all i know is, i was woken up later that morning, moaning "ugh. sunlight. pain." we rushed off to victoria and took the train home. i then spent half the day lying in bed, in complete darkness - curtains drawn, lights off - with a sudden aversion to loud noises, on the phone retelling the sordid tale to NGR, who laughed and exclaimed "YOU PISSHEAD!"

note: i think i was experiencing my virgin hangover.

the end.

victoria has happily reverted to basking in the sunlight; wearing flimsy sundresses and flipflops, as promised.

updates for the week

monday no sleep. went for dental. met up with jacky for supper at jalan kayu. he drove! love it *grin* we went back to the same place for supper, twice! hopefully *fingers crossed* under the guise of my fav men's shirt, i managed to remain relatively inconspicuous the second time round. the same couldn't be said for him with his distinctive polka dotted AA hoodie. it was a night of long overdue revelations and truth.

tuesday went to town to meet car. two girls got their mother to chase after me (while walking to the TS escalator) and ask where my sundress was from *laughs* cute. i saw my babylamb! i (predictably) shrieked the heavens down; people actually backed off and left a circle of empty space around us :) car bought the topshop white bikini with fluorescent orange hearts for me!! her new boy works at the peppermint club (st james) hence the best spot was reserved for us; we sat on swings facing each other. very secluded, hidden away from the public eye - just what i needed. free tacos/wedges/chicken wings/drinks inclusive. *thumbs up* i'm liking him already *grin* outfit: grey/white floral tent-dress, denim hotshorts, silver thongs, mauve headscarf.

wednesday did an all nighter, went straight to lunch with ken and mellie at newly opened eatery relish. cool burgers; mine was some mexican one with guacamole. outfit: floral tieback minidress, black jersey vest, pageboy cap, thongs. popped by topshop to visit car, saw my darling licco (hugged her to death, she was on the phone heh) guess who we bump into? miss seet herself. style advisor reunion! *beams* i love this particular aspect of singapore's smallness. so much for that afternoon power nap. stopped by sanchia's for a brief (and i mean BRIEF) "hello and goodbye" in and out within 5 flat. i end up with nary an hour's rest before the calls start coming in. i don't even remember who called, just that i was semi-comatose, hence babbled some crap and hung up - acc. to a very annoyed josh later on.

managed to blackmail my darlings (cot - jol) into zouk, after fulfilling my sushi cravings - done and done. i was so lethargic.. till gen. seriously, my whole world lit up the second i saw her on that escalator. jacky said, "eh gen's here." i looked up and there she was, walking towards me - my source of energy. i just could not stop screaming and hugging her. the guys got all weirded out, they said "i don't know them" and walked away. we were still hugging whilst sitting down side by side in the sushi booth. i kept touching her, just to prove that she was real. right in front of me, in the flesh. it was so surreal.

mr wo-hong-le jacky lee called up bkf which sent us to the front of the queue (that wound round all the way into the carpark) we cut it. yeah! pity zouk was filled with such weirdos. bumped into/hugged gaurav! we left extraordinarily early, for the first time in my life i felt it was justified. zouk was CRAP. settled in tong shui cafe for supper; she shoots, she aims, she scores! i spontaneously decided on shooting peanuts into pp's shirt pocket. cue: crazy laughter. josh = bruce lee (i see it now! it's the hair) i miss this easy companionship, i love this crazy bunch to death. outfit: purple chiffon dress, black knee high boots, gold rose plate.

thursday woke up late, as expected. original plan: spend the entire day with gen. we ended up doing dinner - me gen drea owen - at the roti prata place outside drea's place. gardens, ice cream for the gang; the ATM machine ATE my card (well, it was actually my sister's, given to me by mistake) argh. so frustrating. after that, it was back to hers; promptly falling asleep in her beanbag.

friday lunch appointment at * with roy. he was super duper late. lunch became tea. i was feelin' really sexy in black high waisted shorts (my 10 min. shorts), white tank, animal print stilettos and scarlet lipstick - which truly made the look. i was on a one-woman mission to find out the truth and clear the air; things have gotten over-complicated lately, too much drama needless to say.

instead of dining with car, roy and i ended up having ayam penyet (another one of my cravings he obligingly helped fulfil). spur of the moment, we headed to zouk - just the two of us - so that he could 'mark attendance'; i watched in awe as he flashed his card and signed me in. *claps* in the members area, we sat and talked. roy was amazed, his little girl victoria is all grown up now; red lipstick, making him feel her supershaved legs, the notion of making out with hot guys after succumbing to inebriation, stuffing cash in my bra (a trick we learnt in rome, that has kinda stayed with me especially when one is lacking in pocket space). SHOCKER, for him.

after that titillating conversation, he put his arm around me and proudly proclaimed, "you have become a woman."

the rest of the night... is in a blur. bits and pieces of a puzzle that neither of us can complete. especially after downing jugs of g&t, way. too. fast. all i remember is giggling and stumbling - arms around each other - from zouk to velvet to the phuture and back (har har get it? future and back? *silly grin*) "blind leading the blind" said he. we tore up the dancefloor a la my sassy girl at velvet (initially empty until we took matters into our own hands). god i haven't had that much fun in ages. it's been awhile, i hafta say... *grins* LET'S DO IT AGAIN!

a.p.p.a.r.e.n.t.l.y, some drunk girl went up to some guy in a neon shirt, tugged on it and said, "your shirt is too bright" then calmly walked away. (how my sassy girl is that?!?) from what i recall, he didn't take offence, finding it amusing it instead *laughs* these lips are sealed; don't ask cause i'm not telling! *smirk*

saturday followed mum to settle bank stuff. I'M VERY PLEASED: the efficiency in singapore is impressive; we got through 3 banks in less than 2 hours. so happy was i that i pressed the "excellent service" button at HSBC. mum gave us 1/2 hour (est waiting time) to sneak out and grab a quick bite, verr and i gobbled down wanton noodles/char kway teow respectively (me and my insatiable cravings) and were back at HSBC in less than 15 min. next, brunch with jon flug. upon my cheery "heyyyyy jon!" he reckoned i must still be hanging over from friday night, given the 'general loopiness' in my appearance - read: dishevelled hair, aformentioned men's shirt, flipflops.

adm gathering/bbq at hk gangster's condo. apparently, everyone's been tuning into my life via facebook, asking if i'm there to study or party and inquiring about bfffs mandi and lili haha. i find it thoroughly amusing. it was good to catch up though, must be my first time attending an adm gathering since graduation.

sunday the intial plan: picnic at botanical gardens, silly boy twinset refusing to come without the other *the look* eventual outcome: picnic by the pool. i made pasta, gen, potato salad. gossip magazines. swimming in the rain. i stood still, letting the rain gently fall down on me. i felt so.. free. after a bath, more lounging around on gen's supersoft bed.

as promised, i took the tan/de silva clan out for dinner, crystal jade. funny bit: in rebuttal to my assumption that mum took her frustrations out on him (while i was away) verr said, "surprisingly, the mother didn't COME ONTO ME while you were gone." upon realization of the words that just came out of his mouth, *awkward darting of eyes* status: my family is choking with laughter.

he stumbles, "no no.. i only got paid for EXTRA SERVICES." at this point, i'm trying my best not to laugh any harder as i can feel the food rising up my throat. everyone else is just crying with mirth. mum tries to clarify it by saying, "no lah.. he was helping me. he got paid 5 cents.." god, how is THAT supposed to be helping? *laughs* justin later told me that the people at the surrounding tables were staring at us strangely, probably thinking we're crazy. and i'm not so sure that they're wrong haha.

local delights i've consumed this week
mee goreng. roti john. wanton soup. charsiew noodles. chicken rice. bite of nasi lemak. char kway teow. ayam penyet. cheese/plain prata. teh peng. milo dinosaur. teh cino. carrot cake. wanton noodles. char siew rice.

one night in london, part 3

looks like 'one night in london' is going to spawn a couple more sequels. as it is, we're already on part 3 *grin* going on 4 - if we're not careful - which we fully intend on doing/being.

oh oh oh, remember when i said london was small? i shall prove my point. manda & lili left at 8 sharp, i woke up late (actually i got up when the alarm rang at 7 but i promptly pressed snooze and snuck back under the covers) - typical eh - so i thought: perhaps i'll join love & jo after 8.. as it turns out they left pretty early too. hence this little piggy boarded the 1005 express train. guess who i bump into at victoria? jo & love - and they left hours ago! *singsong voice* told cha.

in the end, we all managed to converge paths at portobello :) YAY FOR US.

let me introduce you to portobello & brick lane; my new favourite places.

two words: VIN and TAGE.

portobello
given it was my second (technically, third) time in portobello since i moved over, i was noticeably less enthusiastic with the whipping out of the camera. even so, i reckon i got some good shots somewhere in there.

one thing's for sure; the 'hawker food' sold along the streets is amazing. lili munched on crab claws/prawns while i gobbled down pizza/brownies, manda had a salmon&capers pastry. food galore much? it was almost too good to be true, and tons cheaper than eating at a fancy restaurant.

i was totally feelin' the free-spirit-boho vibe in the air, especially with bob marley and fat freddy's drop (nz music) playing all around - very reggaeesque - we spontaneously started dancing in the streets, twirling each other round and round.

yup, in the streets baby.

right after, we ventured into this mini market-within-a-market under a tent, with stalls set up all around. lili was quite enamoured with a neon silkscreened tee and a gold chair pendant on a chain, methinks. i stopped to mosey poke around too, when i caught sight of metal cutout necklaces laid out on the table - very much like my own ipod/3ballerinas (if you know me, you've probably seen them) - at a glance, i instantly knew they were from bkk. come on, it's common knowledge they're produced in bkk regardless of where they're being sold.

i started talking to the lady selling them aka linda, and somehow found myself deep in conversation; chatting about the markets (chatuchak, suan lum, platinum), my recent trip to krabi/ko lanta/bkk and all sorts of random stuff. apparently, she's a stylist in london/bkk and fyi was wearing the most divine navy dress with ruffles along and above the hem (from what i could see). her friend - who was downing redbull in an effort to rid herself of her hangover ha ha - revealed that occasionally, she gets to keep the stuff she styles.

that, was a chloe dress folks.

i screamed. for real.
and jumped a few feet into the air.

it was cute though. she wrote down the names/numbers of other outlets in bkk - for when i go on my self-proclaimed annual shopping trips - and her myspace address. later on i discovered that manda actually asked lili if i knew those 2 ladies prior to that, cause judging from our highly animated conversation, it looked as if i did. haha.

note: i've taken a liking to chatting up perfect strangers - ONLY APPLICABLE in foreign countries it seems. i warm up super quickly to people who are equally nice back.

a few stalls away, i bought a chiffon scarf for a pound! note: when i got home on sunday, i realised it matches my vintage dress perfectly. shade for shade, hue for hue, tone for tone. anyway, alex tied it around my head (cause i didn't know how to) and i wore it like that for the remainder of the day, and night. you'll see.. (on facebook) i felt pretty; a gypsy look made complete with large gold hoop earrings.

as we walked along, there were countless things i wanted to buy. "i was dying inside to hold you.." - timmy thomas. umm, irrelevant. right.

we came across this lady selling the most delightful cupcakes; alex and i had such a ridiculously difficult time picking two measly cupcakes to buy - as if it were a matter of utmost importance - it was honestly, ridiculous. we stood there eeny meeny miney moe-ing for the longest time *naughty grin* kay, fine! it was i who suggested the eenymeeny etc, that's how we settle disputes back home.

in the end i selected: carrot cake cupcake with pink frosting & white hearts. alex: vanilla flavoured cupcake with blue frosting & pink sprinkles. delish. the lady asked if we could write our names down in her little address book so she could mail us recipes to test and send her feedback. she was about to be published by randomhouse you see, isn't that cool?

alex + victoria = cupcake buddies!

hmm.. there's not much else i can write of portobello because we left soon after and headed back to alex's flat to primp for our long awaited night out.

alex's flat
our girl extraordinaire(s) [to be fair], manda (and alex) whipped up pasta for dinner, and concocted strawberry fizz + vodka pre-clubbing drinks, to sip whilst getting dolled up. having abstained from proper alcohol for a bit, i got lightheaded relatively fast. haha. lili/manda/alex can bear witness to that; it didn't take long for me to start dancing along to the imaginary music in my head. i vaguely recall humming and twirling around the living room, much to the amusement of everyone else. someone took photos as evidence. cue: lotsa posing & pouting.

i love getting dressed up/made up together, i hardly ever get to do that back home *pout* tragic, it's such a typically girly-sleepover-type activity! manda: black&white (she has a thing for monochrome) vintage dress, black leather jacket, liquorice necklace, boots? lili: black top with gold sequins, black bottoms and jacket, gorgeous beige heels. alex: white tank, black vest, brown pencil skirt, black heels. myself: white tank, black high waisted skirt, gold belt, lime&gold wedges, black peacoat. ooh, scarf around head :)

ready? here we go. i recall traipsing around king's cross, soho for sure, covent garden? in search of a cool club/chilled out pub to party at. i can't list them all; for the most of it, i was stumbling around half-high and very happy. it got to the point where we were randomly asking fellow partygoers milling around on the streets for suggestions, because it was getting a tad frustrating - right smack in the land of clubs yet not one seemed to beckon us in.

*grin* out of the blue, we bumped into 3 guys on the streets, or was it a junction? at a crossing? can't remember. all i know was that it was literally in the middle of nowhere. some dude stumbled up to manda and said "you're hot" or something to that effect. his friends ran up and held him back, telling us to ignore him, being drunk and all.

making full use of their sudden appearance, we asked them to recommend a place, any place. they kindly informed us they had 3 unoccupied female places on the guestlist of chinawhite *squeal* (v. posh club) and that they were off to meet some friends for roughly an hour, after which we could arrange to meet up and set off together. i exchanged numbers with one of the dudes and that was that.

you see, being in london does things to you.

AND i got asked out on a date by some dude. at a pub. while fixing my hair in a mirror at the entrance - the girls were using the loo upstairs. "you're beautiful" said he, then he did the deed. i shook my head and said "no" repeatedly. he asked if i was out on a date, i told him i was with friends but he didn't seem to get the message. weirdly enough, the girls asked him for directions when he went up the stairs afterwards - obviously they had no idea what had taken place. it's odd, back home i would never have been asked out this way, or at all. you know, man drought ring a bell? how random.

oh, i forgot to mention it was dervin's birthday on sat. heh by my standards, the b'day card we bought/customised was pre.tty cheeky. it had our lipstick imprints all over! *grin* we eventually found our way to a club called on anon, on d's recommendation. rockin! i actually had a fantastic time, despite the countless weird guys calling out "OI!" and some dude grabbing me from behind *shudders* i practically had to fight him off. i have to admit, i was more than a little shaken up by that, but i decided not to let it ruin my night.

pity, we never made it to chinawhite. the reception was so bad, i didn't get his text till it was too late. however we made plans to meet up another time. part 4 awaits.. *smiling like a cheshire cat*

i have to continue with sunday's activities another time, this post is getting wayy too long. *yawn*

simon says:

i'm amazed - partly at myself,
the other part, just plain amazed.

i've never felt this way before: being here makes me want to be everywhere else.

BUT,

there's a clear distinction between going places and feeling the pressing urge to escape your surroundings once they start to show signs of routine. i've never been my sister; she with her endless crusades to save the world, traipsing off to as many countries as possible, seeking refuge from i'm-not-sure-what, it's almost as if she feels time is waving at her as it passes her by.

i don't need to be 'a comet, blinding in its brilliance.. etc' an original quote by her. i've never felt the desire to run away, or ever had reason to. soon she'll run out of places to escape to. but that's her, and i doubt she'll ever run out of places anyway - as long as it's not singapore, right? heh - besides, you only live once so i say, to hell with it!

interruption: darling alexa popped by to visit and say hi, one of the handful - besides my sweetheart love - to do so. aww, isn't she the sweetest? i love her. she's so cute it's not even funny.

i want to see the world. i want to open my eyes and bear witness to life beyond my own. i want to, more importantly, need to know the world as it truly is, which is everything that my world isn't.

just yesterday, i was telling love, "i haven't been in the library this whole week, i was wrought with guilt. now i'm here, and it feels like home." weird huh.

being in the library, surrounded by all these books, makes me see. i was flipping through a pictorial by david bailey for bandaid. it evoked such strong feelings within me that i felt goosebumps rise up on my skin and tears in my eyes. the injustice of it all. it's beyond unfair; it's inhuman. i want to go to africa and do something. i don't want to just sit at home and think about it, or be one those people on the streets blindly donating to charities without knowing what cause it's for. i want to DO SOMETHING, MAKE A DIFFERENCE in someone's life.

do i sound very naive? i hope not. i genuinely want to help. my first day in class; they mentioned some programme to help aids victims in africa, by teaching them how to sew. when i heard that, i wanted to sign up immediately, to be a part of it.

note: manda and lili just popped by - unannounced - in a bid to try and get me to hurry up with the dressing up already! (i think) *grin* i love surprise visits, it's so lovely entertaining people in your flat. correction: it's so lovely having people to entertain. period.

anyway, that and greece in summer, new york, paris. so many places so little time (and money). last year our whirlwind escapade in vienna, budapest prague was just for starters - a little taste of culture. i didn't really have the opportunity or time to explore. plus i want to learn french! just enough to get me by, say being able to order a cup of coffee at a cafe in france? that'll suffice.

ahh.. this is life, yes? the desire to do more learn more be more.

as i was accumulating a stack of books at the photography section, i chanced upon a book on ken done's artworks - which brings to mind, where on earth is the KD diary uncle brian bought me? damn. when i go home in dec, i better hunt for it - and subsequently this quote "sometimes, in the winter, the water and the sky become the same and it's like turner or rees." which accompanied a gorgeous painting, where the water and the sky were merged as one.

i'm not making sense anymore, just got back to my flat from celebrating alexa's 19th at tap 'n' tin. the music tonight was really really good. i don't remember having this much fun in ages. YAY HOORAY.

p/s: i adore that naughty sounding song from charlie's angels; the scene in which sam rockwell does a sexy little dance and split to the floor, love love love it! it keeps playing in the clubs here. simon says...

2am dessert bar.

wednesday night (the eve of national day)

9pm: jon picks me up at my place. we set off for vivian's farewell party at 'some dessert place', so i've been told. he has supposedly nominated me as his unofficial official date/wing(wo)man for the night.

we reach/find parking/search for the place to no avail. however, acting upon instructions given over the phone, eventually arrive outside this place with the words "2am dessert bar" written on a glass window of the second storey - hidden in a secluded part of holland v that i've never seen or knew existed.

we enter by the side door and i notice a sign "private party" hung up.

me: *muses aloud* i wonder who's having a private party..
jon: that's us.
me: *stunned* ohh!

the interior of the place is gorgeous. simple clean lines, fuss-free. white sofas/beds (fluffy pillows inclusive) lined up against the wall - how inviting, right? a dessert bar, just as the name promises with bottle upon bottle of moet arranged in rows on the wall-shelves (i couldn't help but notice) and two rows of high wooden tables and chairs in the middle.

[i'm sorry my description just doesn't do it justice]

"it reminds me of new york, though i've never been. it's so... sex and the city." - me

coincidentally, i found out from the owner later on that she did indeed get the inspiration from and decided to bring the concept back after working at a dessert bar in new york. aha! a friend of vivian's, she opened up the place specially for the party, but the bar's official opening is actually in a couple of weeks' time.

i find that its selling point however, is/are its unique opening hours: 6pm-2am. she explained that if we ever get dessert cravings in the middle of the night, you know where to go. hello, talk about midnight chocolate cravings, i'm so there!

[free advertising! i should command a commission for this. haha]

everyone's already seated/mingling/eating/toting champagne flutes around by the time we arrive. i spot my favourite boy with his oh-so-adorable clark kent (i don't know what you call it) haircut, complete with flippy curls to the side! what crew cut?! viv feeds me a portion of her dessert. seriously: YUM. the warm chocolate tart is mouth-wateringly delicious, so much so that i simply call out to the waitress "i'm having whatever she's having!"

several hours and glasses of champagne later, we decided to proceed to zouk. by this time i'm practically sliding off my highchair (i can't call it a bar stool, it's far too classy for that) - part sleepy part jigging to the music in my head (the boys noticed. heh)

halfway out the door, we bump into more acquaintances, and their (ABC, i'm guessing) friend - who just so happens to have the sexiest british accent ever. [he looks a bit like a mouse, now that i think about it.]

as the boys chat (drunkenly, might i add), i whispered to vishal, "i love his accent."

out of the blue, he makes a mention of doing national service (even though no one asked). when i innocently enquired "in singapore?" he gets unnecessarily sarcastic (totally uncalled for) and rambles on about doing it in "f*cking antartica". i slide a sideways glance at vishal and both of us have this "what the f*ck" look on our faces. more out of politeness than anything (and the fact that they're probably trashed), i refrain from retaliating with a biting remark, decide to take the high road and turn to leave.

as we walk back to the car, i comment "love the accent, hate the attitude." the boys agree in unison "what a prick!" and backed me up, saying that he could have done his national service in any part of the world, was i to make the assumption that he was singaporean, what with the hugh laurie accent and all? urgh.

i hate boys.
i hate boys.
i hate boys.
i hate boys.
i hate boys.

zouk was packed, surprise surprise. jon and i somehow cut our way to the front of the queue (which has wound up all the way to the carpark by this time) it's far too crowded to get on the guestlist acc. to the doorbitch at velvet, but he bumps into a friend there and then who says quite convincingly "he's with me" - we both get stamped. if he's someone of importance, i don't really care.

the rest of the night isn't worth mentioning. i get pushed and shoved at zouk members, cue: breaking point. hence i decide to leave slightly before 2am, opting for a quiet supper with jpoh instead, at our usual place.

"we have to take our, clothes off!"

See here's the thing

We have to take our, clothes off!
We have to party all night
And we have to take our, clothes off!
To have a good time
Oh no

last night, i made a toast. erm, as far as my memory serves me, i'm assuming it went along the lines of "here's to retirement!!" .. or something like that.

[1 jug of vodka lime, 1 glass of long island, 1 heineken] x2, it was 1-for-1. (fyi: that's just round 1, i'm not sure what licco/sham ordered for round 2 heh) -> the amount of alcohol we consumed, which isn't much - considering what others down in a mere few minutes.

i had loads and loads and oodles of fun. i loved the company, licco sham car jenny: too. much. fun. the music at phuture was actually good all night; the dj spun every hot song there was - tokyo drift, sexyback - just to name a few (i can't seem to remember the rest too well. oops!). deb wrote in one of her emails, "You seem so into the social scene of Singapore. " personally, i doubt it, but i am trying to get as much fun in as possible, till i have to leave, because i have not a clue as to what's coming up for me in UK.

so party people, let's party up!

p/s: i honestly didn't know where to hide my face (or dig a hole and bury my head in it) when i saw jenny on monday night at topshop - my face felt really warm and i couldn't stifle my giggles, i waved though.

i bet she was thinking: ohmy, there goes the crazy woman.

i was there to meet car and hazel for dinner. after the complete and utter fools we made of ourselves on saturday night (unlike our daytime alter egos slash professional fronts we put on for work [me especially]), i don't think i could ever look at her with a straight face again. haha. sharifah told licco that i was so far gone on saturday night.. and so... i'm not 100% sure what that sentence ended off with. i do know that isn't something to be proud of, spare me - it was my one night of revelry!

"the art of dating younger men."

saturday night, mos.
this is how the conversation unfolded..

boy: "where are you from?"

girl: *totally deadpan* "singapore."

boy: "ha ha. that's not funny."

boy: "are you from MGS?"

girl: *the look* "how old are you?"

boy: *hesitantly* "... i'm underaged." *brushes it off with a flick of his wrist*

girl: *laughs out loud and places arm around his shoulder* "young man, for your information, everyone in this group is in their 20s."

boy: "ohmygod" *scampers off, mouth agape*

never in a million years, would i have anticipated an UNDERAGED BOY hitting on me us. you got that right folks, B-O-Y. he's practically my baby brother's age. come to think of it, he is!

more as an afterthought rather than a means to an end, i called roy up to pull some strings last minute - just in case. he in turn, managed to get us on the vip list, under "roy chan + 6" witness the power of having connections! initially, the bouncer couldn't find our names on the vip list, so he asked who put us on it. i ultra confidently said "j**** k****" even though he's roy's friend, not mine. seconds later, he found us. we got stamped and sashayed into the club, effectively cutting the terrifyingly long queue behind us. YAY!

like some overactive kid with ADD, i started squealing and bouncing up and down like a gummybear on gummybear juice, super-excited at what had just taken place. jada simply looked over at me as if i were insane. haha.

to be continued...

the eye of the storm.

ladies night

sheer insanity; i can find no better word to describe it.

come to think of it, i can't actually put my finger on the last time i went to zouk on a wednesday night. casually necking a barcardi breezer and shoving/bulldozing our way (i was the leader. yay!) through the highly aggressive crowd to the 'eye of the storm' where all was serene, and cool (we found ourselves strategically positioned directly under the aircon vent) at one point, it got so bad that i couldn't even move let alone dance, the crowd kept pushing and shoving - i found myself swaying from side to side, unable to stand still.

i've discovered the perfect clubbing song! (of the moment): ne-yo's "because of you"

perfect tune/melody/rhythm/lyrics aside, it's slow enough for the psychotic crowd to simmer down and keep calm for a bit, but fast enough to be able to groove sexily. the instant i heard the beats leading up to the first few words of the song, i shrieked and jumped up and down (a couple of feet into the air min.) effectively stomping my perfectly sharpened heels on the dude behind me - to think that despite the blaring music, i actually heard his yelps of terror. heh heh.

in over my head

things have been a-changing lately.

friday night
dinner with pp, far east
drinks at muse with jon & gaurav - chocolate martini (diabetically sweet)
adjourned to butter, the boys - champagne, G&T, vodka lime&cranberry

fantastic night! pity i don't remember too much of it, save for selective bits like gaurav's "you're like a ping pong ball!" comment and the hugs - loads of 'em from/with loads of people, god knows who. quite unfortunately, my brain tends to automatically weed out the memory of fun-filled nights in favour of other more/less important things, like oh i don't know, the fact that sarah jessica parker's husband is matthew broderick?

(i was willing to bet my life on this, when ken and i got into a heated debate over lunch at the marmalade pantry a week or so ago - the place is SO chi chi it's unbelievable!)

i recall being all high and giggly (the works); this is what you get after weeks of weaning yourself off the late nights out and alcohol - plays merry hell with your tolerance levels. i do remember being shoved around a surprising number of times that night (my body made pliable by the effects of alcohol), giving way to gaurav's astute observation and following remark. heh.

saturday
wanton noodle lunch while watching my korean drama serial on tape
laundry - handwashing/hanging my delicates (nearly breaking my arms/back in the process) i hope i get some arm muscle definition from this.
running of errands - bought vanilla chocolate chip ice cream and cola
primary school class gathering - serious bundle of fun!

phrase(s) of the night:
"YOU LOOK SO OLD!!"
"OHMYGOD I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE STILL ALIVE!?!"

monday
mel's 21st dinner party

tuesday
jing's 21st, after work
shopping & supper with jon after after work
(not sure how i'm gonna arrange this)

wednesday
ladies night! anyone?
supper, jpoh? (sorry this is the only available slot) heh

thursday
dental appointment
more laundry?
grown up/dress-up dinner party at andrea's bachelorette pad at the far side of the world

friday
vishal's house party

saturday
heading down to mos with crazy colleagues

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

the rapture, zouk. the style awards, zouk. studio prive, that place with numbers as its name next to butter. asylum's 2nd anniversary, velvet. some r&b event, butter. followed by ladies night, zouk/phuture. nouvelle vague, zouk.

ticket. email invite. invite/friends working with events co. friend's co./doorbitch for the night. friend helping out with events co. scored invites from someone working there.

as you can see, i've been a very busy girl.

this has got to stop, - no, scratch that - this has got to be carried out in moderation. too much of a good thing, is err... not a good thing? and the likelihood of bumping into people i do not wish to bump into is scarily high - bearing in mind, singapore is really not that much bigger than a tiny red dot.

damn that jacky! for coining the term 'ni hong le'. now i can't seem to tear myself away from peppering my sentences with it at every available opportunity. from meeting dk at fashion bar to my blink-and-you'll-miss-it guest appearance in juice to jobi's velvet doorbitch duties, serving korean celebs and getting propositioned by wannabes who just want a piece of the limelight to roy shooting/getting up close and personal with felicia chin and jetting off on a r&r shoot over the weekend.

*claps hands briskly* let's face it. everybody's 'hong le'.

"merci beaucoup"

they don't call the french crazy for nothing,
positively barking.

nouvelle vague live at zouk (guess who scored invites! - official statement: i had to rely on my 'womanly charms' heh heh) and audrey tatou in priceless, come to think of it, i've had quite a bit of french for thought this week. haha. silly wordplay, in case you haven't already figured that out.

it was yummy, every drop of it.
i can't say much, it was one of those things where you just had to be there.

oh, i simply adore the way she says "merci beaucoup". gosh, it sends shivers down my spine at the mere thought of it.

velvet virgin.

i'm no longer a velvet virgin!
believe me, it's not half as bad as it sounds.

after my shift ended, off i was! - like a speeding bullet - to meet up with royboytoy (by reputation not by name. heh) and proceed on to the exclusive studio privé spring/summer 07 runway show, to bear witness as 7 talented young designers launched their debut collections, under the watchful guidance/eye of jonathan seow, woods & woods.

i know 2 of the designers personally - one being a classmate from adm, tp design and the other a fellow intern from my brief stint at bazaar - and shall extend my congrats once again for all the hard work not forgetting sweatbloodandtears (this, i know for a fact) put into producing their collections. it must've been a struggle from start to finish. i sincerely anticipate the arrival of the next collection sometime in august, you said?

it was great bumping into you both at the afterparty/asylum event at velvet later that night; jubilant faces, radiant with joy - a sight i never grow tired of :)

attending the show was a last-minute decision, but ultimately i'm glad i went. despite the initial atmosphere being one of pretentiousness and frosty looks cast around the exhibition space by fashion industry people 'up there' - i felt ridiculously out of place, like some imposter amongst genuine designer goods - till i spotted a few familiar faces from the bazaar team.

that was nice; catching up with alli and nicky, who by the way was looking extremely good in an off-the-shoulder (i think) black top. a designer came to mind upon noticing the ornamental beading, unfortch, the tip-of-the-tongue-phenomenon seems to have caught up with me. tsk.

after all the niceties were done with, we strolled to zouk for the asylum party and a bite. both roy and myself were on the guestlist but i rang jobi (whilst walking over) about bringing serene and jerry in, "no problemo." said she. miss doorbitch-for-the-night was in high spirits; looking unsurprisingly glam in my purple goddess dress and black tights. very chic. after getting stamped, we slipped out for roti prata across the road (risking our lives time and time again. sheesh. the things we do for food)

pick-up line of the night
"boss, can you give me some sugar?"
- jerry

jacky joined the gang. back to velvet. jobi came to pick us up from the reception/entrance, balancing a flute of champagne rather precariously in one hand - a precariousness that only seemed to increase as the night wore on. funnily so (i have to control my laughter at the memory) - and bringing us back to her table.

it was an experienece (not a particularly memorable one), an eye-opener. vastly different from the phutute i've grown accustomed to. more grown up, filled with 'adults' and working people in working clothes, for lack of a better description. no one really danced. it centered around standing about and socialising/networking. urgh. but i was too busy eyeing the carpeted walls in the hallway, private little corners and couches to really notice. i was practically giddy with excitement at exploring this new little playground. everyone was laughing at my enthusiasm. easy for them to say beentheredonethat, all except me *pout*

the mini photo exhibition (the white box) in the middle of velvet was a cute idea. the most fun i had the entire night took place within that tiny crammed space. cue: noisy crazy chaotic photo-taking session on roy's 3D cam, despite the curious stares from... erm everybody else? haha

jobina tan sirong, you were absolutely hilarious. call me if/when you see this, and i'll gladly give you a blow-by-blow account of everything you said and did last night. hahaha. you want to hear this. believe me. hahaha.

Sunday, April 29, 2007

when a night out at zouk entails you bumping into twenty different people (some whom you recognise others who recognise you), it's very telling of just how small singapore's social scene has dwindled to. if i were to name names, the list would never end. in addition to that, when practically everyone in said social scene is trying so hard to be a somebody, there's no one left to be a nobody.

dudes/dudettes, i think guess the time has come this is my cue to hightail it outta here.

the rapture

note; -
tonight's completely unexpected itinery:
dinner at nydc
random meet up with the boys at starbucks
further introduction of friends' friend's friends
quick stop for a shop
took a walk, got a ride
scrapped mos for zouk, the rapture
bumped into tons of design people,
spotted almost everyone from j*
drinks&dancing under the glittering disco ball
supper, cheese prata!
cabbed home
end of story.

note II: photos can be found on friendster.

we got into an accident last night.

a relatively minor one albeit, but still, i was pretty shaken up. literally.

josh was sending me home - i was asleep when it happened - all i know is there was a loud bang, i hit my head against the window or ledge (wherever it was that i had fallen asleep against) and woke up in a daze. i could hear josh saying "shit" over and over.

i had absolutely no idea what had just taken place; i thought it was just a blown tyre (or we ran over something on the road) and asked him so. i don't recall if he replied, but i think he mentioned the steering wheel going out of control and hitting something.

i felt the coldness of dread seeping in.

i don't remember much about the events that unfolded last night, but i wisened up when i saw part of a bumper that had gotten detached in the middle of the road. i had no idea whom it belonged to, or the extent of damage... until i got out of the rover and walked back towards the taxi.

then i saw it. whoa.

the taxi's boot was quite badly banged up/smashed in. the yellow submarine had hit it on the left side - where i was seated - which explains why/how i banged my head, hard. i was still rubbing my head when i reached the taxi - where they were exchanging contacts, in a rather calm rational manner - so much so the taxi driver asked if i was okay. i nodded.

when i think about what could have happened, i swear to god, i feel real fear. josh has a seatbelt on his side but he wasn't wearing it, i on the other hand, don't even have one. we both could've crashed through the windscreen had the impact been any harder. i could've died, or worse, become paralysed or lost limbs, or.. the list could go on. i shudder at the thought of the 'what if' factor.

from now on, i'm taking my car. i do not care what she has to say about my driving, but it's safety over everything else, everytime. at least i have seatbelts, and airbags.

yet despite it all, josh still had the presence of mind to remain calm and focus on getting me home safely. outside my gate, he even hopped out and opened the door for me. i then asked him to check if there was any blood, scratch or bump on my head but there was no sign of injury.

i'm touched. *deep breath* all i can say is
"sometimes, bad things happen to good people".

i don't know what i did to deserve my friends, but jacky josh pp - you guys are a great bunch. gen made a comment about how my guy friends are incredibly gentlemanly, even compared to hers, and i have to agree. all the things you've done for me, simply amazing.

i've come to learn this the hard way;
most guys are only nice to you because they want something. all the niceties cease once they realise they're not going to get it.

josh, pp: i don't even know where to start. it's overwhelming, what you've done; witnessing my crazy antics, taking my mind off the broken heart and a certain someone - with loads of chilling out therapy (wala, one rochester, liquid kitchen, holland v - i miss that) acting as a peacemaker between my mother and i, counseling me in the kitchen while i cried till my eyes were puffy and my face swollen, sat morning gymming, the swimmming at raffles marina, the baileys-induced foursome in josh's bed, my wonderful 20th birthday!!... etc. FOR JUST BEING THERE.

jacky: this is worse! 4-5 years of friendship, honestly there's too much to say, too much we've been through together; you having been omnipresent throughout the ups and downs of all my pathetic 1.5 relationships and uncountable crushes - namely skb freakout sessions, the crying over the phone, severe outbreaks of pms and mood swings, assuring me when i was brimming with self-doubt during fyp, the good and bad times we've encountered to reach this comfortable place where we are right now. i'm so grateful you're here. with me.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. if i never said it, i'm saying it now.
and right now, i can't say it enough. you are all blessings.

p/s: the most recent episode last night at phuture; i was bending over the counter ordering drinks on behalf of the highly indecisive company we were keeping - josh is positive the 1-for-1 (given it was after 12) and discount we received is because of my hard work. heh - when jacky realised my very short shorts were hardly covering much because some dude came up and stood directly behind my ass, pretty much up in the air.

so he intercepted (i think that's the word for it) and put himself in between. then the guy apparently started grinding him from behind, hands on his waist and all [i was provided with a realistically freaky live demo by jacky and pp later on, to my amusement/disbelief]

props to jacky, who took one for the team! (i think) poor guy. once again, i was very touched by his show of protectiveness. see, this is why i need to club with guys - PROTECTION!

p/p/s: crazy party girl mode was on last night! they played all my favourite songs after 3am; tokyo drift fast and furious (YAY!), maneater, promiscuous? sexyback.. the recollection isn't all that clear, but yeah :)

give it to me.

the timbaland/timberlake/furtado collabo never looked hotter.

justin is so unabashedly adorable here, and has thus been named as the sole inspiration and muse for the outfit i've put together (wayy before i saw the video) to wear to work tomorrow, ditto with the afterparty.

"the clothes maketh the wo-man": the look

thin long sleeved collared shirt, inverted seams, chest pockets, flippy shoulder things (commonly seen on uniforms), white. high waisted roll-up shorts, double row buttons in front, black. skinny floral tie (worn as tie, for real!). black stockings. heels/converses (undecided) could go either way, last minute decision-making at play. i wish i had a tailored vest a la JT to match, but alas - none within a 5 mile radius.

how can one not dance along to this? seriously, seriously! it's too infectious, and continually growing on me at such a rapid pace i simply can't stop pressing play.

i hope i get to groove to this tomorrow night.
*keeping fingers crossed*

i guess this is my cue to slip into crazy party girl mode.

"wonderful world"

*EDIT

"You get me so
Get me so excited

I'm hot, come on, so get it ready
And I'll open my spot for you
Anytime you want me to
So you can

Act bad
Don't hurt me
Look sexy
Talk dirty

And i'll open my spot for you
Anytime you want me to
Get me so excited"

AHHHHHHHHH. the song wasn't played last night, but the feeling's mutual.

butter was fantastic; i'm speaking on behalf of myself of course. i can't say the same for everyone else. judging from the little tidbits of information i've amassed from people around me last night:

1. I WAS VERY EXTREMELY HIGH
2. in a world of my own; apparently standing up and dancing by myself in the middle of the sofa area - where everyone else not me, remained seated
3. on the platform/stage too - i recall being asked up by some girl, who erm.. supposedly thought i was hot, upon my enquiring why she invited me up. question mark question mark.
4. high, but definitely not drunk. no slurring or walking sengeh, no babbling/rambling nonsense, no making out with strangers, no bumping and grinding, no stripping of clothes etc.
5. okay, this is as far as it goes. the rest is either somewhere swimming around in the murky depths of my memory, or private & confidential - for me to know, and you to find out.

that and i slept like a log last night. haha. i cannot fathom how i managed to fall asleep with a towel wrapped around my still-wet hair, turban style. nor could i remember being spoken to in any way whatsoever and you returning to bed from the bathroom or the phone ringing early this morning.

**note: did you know... when i reached gen's place after work around 6-ish, i had the worst headache ever. the kind you suspect arrives after the weather zigzagging around from hotcoldhotcold. i was aching away; i prayed it would go away, because i'd been looking forward to a night out (this one in particular) since the start of the week, it was the ONLY thing helping me get by. popped a panadol-like pill after dinner, and prayed for the best. hot bath, dressed up sexy heh, cleaned the contacts and i was feeling tons better. upon reaching butter however, it came back, kinda. bummer right? but like i said, alcohol always helps. *grin* sure did.

BIG P/S: I DROVE JUST NOW! mother excluded!! we were headed in the general direction of villa bali, but settled on wala, once i realised we were already in the area. the band playing tonight was pretty damn good too.

as i was outside my estate, turning into begonia, cassie's 'long way to go' came on the radio, and in true form, i started dancing (like REAL dancing. heh) pity i couldn't jerk the car, the peeps had dozed off somewhere on the ride home.

i've known myself for a good 20 years now, and i've come to the conclusion that i tend to get excited over the most unexplainable and littlest things. i'm not alone in this train of thought. there are others who think this about me too, told me so.

can't help the fact i'm easy to please :)

i realised one of the 'perks' (if you can call it that) of driving is (i think i watch wayy too much tv/many movies) being able to get out of the car, close the door, lock it then proceed to twirl the car keys in your hand (important: jangling sound inclusive) as you distance yourself from the car - you know, with your finger in the hoop thingy - in that oh-so-cool way, like they do in the movies. hahaha.

it sounds ridiculous, but think: john woo, face off. john travolta and nicholas cage exiting their respective modes of transportation, strong blast of wind, trench coats billowing behind them as they walk towards each other in slow motion. typical hongkong gangster style in a hollywood blockbuster. it was the most featured scene, just ask yourself if you remember any other part from the movie besides that. it's practially the entire trailer!

see, told ya. erm, they weren't twirling car keys or anything, but you get my point. right?

oh and also, the one thing that singlehandedly got me hot and bothered about my new job wasn't the people, or the pay, or the getting off my bum, or anything of real importance really. just the fact that i'd get to decorate my own desk!! whoopee. but i didn't. so peewhoo --> that's the sound of my bubble being burst. the rain on my parade. the yada yada of my balloon deflating.

onto other more, er just other news.

james morrison's 'wonderful world' makes me wanna stand under the sunshine on a glorious day (his delectably husky/sexy voice singing to me via ipod plugged in; volume full blast), in the middle of a breathtakingly endless field of sunflowers with arms fully extended, twirl around in circles till i'm dizzy and out of breath, then collapse to the ground and stare at up a beautiful sky, preferably with a gorgeous rainbow on display. it truly is wonderful.

notice the excessive use of flowery descriptive language such as: glorious delectably breathtakingly beautiful gorgeous, and it was even said in the same breath as 'sunshine', which i am famous for detesting with a passion. the heat irritates me, to be exact, it's more the humidity - ahh but who's keeping track?

and i know that it's a wonderful world
but i can't feel it right now
well i thought that i was doing well
but i just want to cry now
well i know that it's a wonderful world
from the sky down to the sea
but i can only see it when you're here, here with me

you can tell for sure, the effect this song has on me. i feel an uncontrollable urge to grin madly and hum along to the song - as i am doing right this instant. *smirk* fine, i admit his adorably curly hair helps - ALOT - and the fact that he's a mere 21 years of age helps too. ALOT ALOT.

last night, tonight - all fabulous. if only the weekend lasted 5 days, and i only had to work on 2. oh wells, if that happened, then i suppose pigs could fly.

did you know, that they can't FLY, but they can SWIM?

p/p/s: pics to be uploaded, hopefully. once i get my hands on them - whatever evidence of last night's shennanigans must be collected, carefully documented and preserved. now i'm babbling!
