Resolution #8: Socialize; catch up with old friends, make new friends. Be less dependent on existing social circle

Done and done! Let's recap...

Sipping delectable dessert wine at quaint french cafe Le Bistrot du Sommelier along Armenian Street followed by potent cocktails at The Library x V1/K/friends; long overdue supper at Jalan Kayu + talking for hours (God I've missed J.LML); stuffing our faces at Sun with Moon x the makeupgroup; gorging on yummy tapas and downing inappropriately-named (I thought H was the most uncommon name in the world, I couldn't have been more wrong) mojitoesque drinks  at Bodega y Tapas x the COT; sumptuous yumcha x N/P/M at Lei Garden and dinner with IJ girls M/J/J this Wednesday!

Hitting the Andy Warhol-Studio 54 theme party at The Art Bar/Butter Factory x the girlz #vicanda in full-on glam mode - think Bianca Jagger in her heyday - vintage Frank Usher Grecian goddess gown (from my 21st), vintage gold belt & clutch, brown suede heels with gold straps. Glowing skin, smoky gold/bronze eyeshadow, cat eyeliner, red lips and retro curls pinned up on my right/cascading down my left. Even the unexpected presence of the Irish couldn't bring me down.

I think the dark clouds are finally passing.

It's only January and already I've managed to catch up with various social circles absent in 2013. This year has gotten off to a good start. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

I should add #15: Try new things to my list of resolutions; too easy to get stuck in a Club St/Kyo/life in general rut... Loved the impromptu catchup x SMc at Jigger & Pony last night. Am usually so harried rushing from one social event to another that it felt thoroughly refreshing to sit at a bar and chat over cocktails (sans time constraint)

Plus I want to check out these places (additions anticipated):
House of Dandy
The Spiffy Dapper
Tippling Club
The Secret Mermaid

Bitters & Love
Oxwell & Co
The Black Swan/The Powder Room

Maison Ikkoku
The Horse's Mouth
Oh, I've just booked my ticket to Laneway this Saturday - Whoop whoop to losing my music festival virginity! Hmm, I wonder what to wear...

good friday.

evidence of our little good friday dinner party in the kitchen.

flash made the waldorf salad and garlic bread (in silver foil). i made salmon avocado (+ cream cheese) sushi (notice the internet printout of 'how to roll sushi' standing next to the food). elmer made macaroni pasta and louie made spicy chicken wings. drinks: red/white wine, lemon tea & fruit juice.

attendance: flash (in navy and white stripes), louie (in grey and white), elmer (in green), said (in black) and ME (not pictured). zorni came in later (also not pictured).

happy good friday folks!

i sure had a fantastic one. a homecooked dinner with 3 flatmates/2 classmates, everyone sitting in the dark, surrounded by tealight candles. just eating, drinking and chatting the night away. lovely. i hope everyone had a great time, i know i did, thanks for coming and contributing!

xoxo.

this is gonna be a super brief scribble, i have a lunch date with carla in brick lane in less than an hour and i haven't even gotten ready yet. AHH!

been staying at v1's place, it's alot nicer than her previous refugee-camp of an apartment. since she's been away for work in turkey, i have the whole room to myself - not that that's any consolation because every single square inch of space was covered in a patchwork of clothes when i took my first step in. i felt like i was back in mandi's room again haha. (shhh don't tell mandi)

note: i apologise for the random spaces in between, my sister's flatmate's mac doesn't seem to have a functioning delete/backspace key.

it's been interesting. grocery shopping at the co-op nearby, cooking risotto whilst listening to aretha franklin and foo fighters (weird mix huh), taking long walks to the park and settling down with a book (in the past 2 days i've finished reading 'oranges are not the only fruit' and 'the curious incident of the dog at night time'. next up, murakami?) while the wind blows up my skirt, or snuggling in a cosy corner of the house with a mug of hot chocolate.
hmmm.. i like.
everytime i'm alone in the house, my mind goes into overdrive. i keep wondering what it would be like if mandili were here, and we shared a lovely little place like this; how we would decorate it, what kind of fri/sat-night routine we would have.. etc

dinner with alex last night was fantastic; indian food @ imli and crepes in soho (everytime i walked past crepeaffaire, i expressed my desire to try it out now i finally have and it was just as yummy as i imagined), drinks off carnaby street @ C'est ici.

and now, i better scoot off to make myself presentable for lunch with little miss malta :)

be back soon, i hope.

xoxo

victoria has happily reverted to basking in the sunlight; wearing flimsy sundresses and flipflops, as promised.

updates for the week

monday no sleep. went for dental. met up with jacky for supper at jalan kayu. he drove! love it *grin* we went back to the same place for supper, twice! hopefully *fingers crossed* under the guise of my fav men's shirt, i managed to remain relatively inconspicuous the second time round. the same couldn't be said for him with his distinctive polka dotted AA hoodie. it was a night of long overdue revelations and truth.

tuesday went to town to meet car. two girls got their mother to chase after me (while walking to the TS escalator) and ask where my sundress was from *laughs* cute. i saw my babylamb! i (predictably) shrieked the heavens down; people actually backed off and left a circle of empty space around us :) car bought the topshop white bikini with fluorescent orange hearts for me!! her new boy works at the peppermint club (st james) hence the best spot was reserved for us; we sat on swings facing each other. very secluded, hidden away from the public eye - just what i needed. free tacos/wedges/chicken wings/drinks inclusive. *thumbs up* i'm liking him already *grin* outfit: grey/white floral tent-dress, denim hotshorts, silver thongs, mauve headscarf.

wednesday did an all nighter, went straight to lunch with ken and mellie at newly opened eatery relish. cool burgers; mine was some mexican one with guacamole. outfit: floral tieback minidress, black jersey vest, pageboy cap, thongs. popped by topshop to visit car, saw my darling licco (hugged her to death, she was on the phone heh) guess who we bump into? miss seet herself. style advisor reunion! *beams* i love this particular aspect of singapore's smallness. so much for that afternoon power nap. stopped by sanchia's for a brief (and i mean BRIEF) "hello and goodbye" in and out within 5 flat. i end up with nary an hour's rest before the calls start coming in. i don't even remember who called, just that i was semi-comatose, hence babbled some crap and hung up - acc. to a very annoyed josh later on.

managed to blackmail my darlings (cot - jol) into zouk, after fulfilling my sushi cravings - done and done. i was so lethargic.. till gen. seriously, my whole world lit up the second i saw her on that escalator. jacky said, "eh gen's here." i looked up and there she was, walking towards me - my source of energy. i just could not stop screaming and hugging her. the guys got all weirded out, they said "i don't know them" and walked away. we were still hugging whilst sitting down side by side in the sushi booth. i kept touching her, just to prove that she was real. right in front of me, in the flesh. it was so surreal.

mr wo-hong-le jacky lee called up bkf which sent us to the front of the queue (that wound round all the way into the carpark) we cut it. yeah! pity zouk was filled with such weirdos. bumped into/hugged gaurav! we left extraordinarily early, for the first time in my life i felt it was justified. zouk was CRAP. settled in tong shui cafe for supper; she shoots, she aims, she scores! i spontaneously decided on shooting peanuts into pp's shirt pocket. cue: crazy laughter. josh = bruce lee (i see it now! it's the hair) i miss this easy companionship, i love this crazy bunch to death. outfit: purple chiffon dress, black knee high boots, gold rose plate.

thursday woke up late, as expected. original plan: spend the entire day with gen. we ended up doing dinner - me gen drea owen - at the roti prata place outside drea's place. gardens, ice cream for the gang; the ATM machine ATE my card (well, it was actually my sister's, given to me by mistake) argh. so frustrating. after that, it was back to hers; promptly falling asleep in her beanbag.

friday lunch appointment at * with roy. he was super duper late. lunch became tea. i was feelin' really sexy in black high waisted shorts (my 10 min. shorts), white tank, animal print stilettos and scarlet lipstick - which truly made the look. i was on a one-woman mission to find out the truth and clear the air; things have gotten over-complicated lately, too much drama needless to say.

instead of dining with car, roy and i ended up having ayam penyet (another one of my cravings he obligingly helped fulfil). spur of the moment, we headed to zouk - just the two of us - so that he could 'mark attendance'; i watched in awe as he flashed his card and signed me in. *claps* in the members area, we sat and talked. roy was amazed, his little girl victoria is all grown up now; red lipstick, making him feel her supershaved legs, the notion of making out with hot guys after succumbing to inebriation, stuffing cash in my bra (a trick we learnt in rome, that has kinda stayed with me especially when one is lacking in pocket space). SHOCKER, for him.

after that titillating conversation, he put his arm around me and proudly proclaimed, "you have become a woman."

the rest of the night... is in a blur. bits and pieces of a puzzle that neither of us can complete. especially after downing jugs of g&t, way. too. fast. all i remember is giggling and stumbling - arms around each other - from zouk to velvet to the phuture and back (har har get it? future and back? *silly grin*) "blind leading the blind" said he. we tore up the dancefloor a la my sassy girl at velvet (initially empty until we took matters into our own hands). god i haven't had that much fun in ages. it's been awhile, i hafta say... *grins* LET'S DO IT AGAIN!

a.p.p.a.r.e.n.t.l.y, some drunk girl went up to some guy in a neon shirt, tugged on it and said, "your shirt is too bright" then calmly walked away. (how my sassy girl is that?!?) from what i recall, he didn't take offence, finding it amusing it instead *laughs* these lips are sealed; don't ask cause i'm not telling! *smirk*

saturday followed mum to settle bank stuff. I'M VERY PLEASED: the efficiency in singapore is impressive; we got through 3 banks in less than 2 hours. so happy was i that i pressed the "excellent service" button at HSBC. mum gave us 1/2 hour (est waiting time) to sneak out and grab a quick bite, verr and i gobbled down wanton noodles/char kway teow respectively (me and my insatiable cravings) and were back at HSBC in less than 15 min. next, brunch with jon flug. upon my cheery "heyyyyy jon!" he reckoned i must still be hanging over from friday night, given the 'general loopiness' in my appearance - read: dishevelled hair, aformentioned men's shirt, flipflops.

adm gathering/bbq at hk gangster's condo. apparently, everyone's been tuning into my life via facebook, asking if i'm there to study or party and inquiring about bfffs mandi and lili haha. i find it thoroughly amusing. it was good to catch up though, must be my first time attending an adm gathering since graduation.

sunday the intial plan: picnic at botanical gardens, silly boy twinset refusing to come without the other *the look* eventual outcome: picnic by the pool. i made pasta, gen, potato salad. gossip magazines. swimming in the rain. i stood still, letting the rain gently fall down on me. i felt so.. free. after a bath, more lounging around on gen's supersoft bed.

as promised, i took the tan/de silva clan out for dinner, crystal jade. funny bit: in rebuttal to my assumption that mum took her frustrations out on him (while i was away) verr said, "surprisingly, the mother didn't COME ONTO ME while you were gone." upon realization of the words that just came out of his mouth, *awkward darting of eyes* status: my family is choking with laughter.

he stumbles, "no no.. i only got paid for EXTRA SERVICES." at this point, i'm trying my best not to laugh any harder as i can feel the food rising up my throat. everyone else is just crying with mirth. mum tries to clarify it by saying, "no lah.. he was helping me. he got paid 5 cents.." god, how is THAT supposed to be helping? *laughs* justin later told me that the people at the surrounding tables were staring at us strangely, probably thinking we're crazy. and i'm not so sure that they're wrong haha.

local delights i've consumed this week
mee goreng. roti john. wanton soup. charsiew noodles. chicken rice. bite of nasi lemak. char kway teow. ayam penyet. cheese/plain prata. teh peng. milo dinosaur. teh cino. carrot cake. wanton noodles. char siew rice.

ballet under the stars.

i spent the better half of yesterday (read carefully) in the kitchen, c-o-o-k-i-n-g. *laughs* hard-boiling eggs, peeling the eggshells off, slicing then mashing them with dollops of mayo, adding a dash of pepper and salt and slabs of butter - dish #1. EGG MAYO.

next up on victoria's menu; dish #2 - chopped up TOMATOES soaked in olive oil/a chunk of butter/1 clove of garlic with some random herbs (from the bottle), ground black pepper, a pinch of salt and 5 carefully sliced sheets of cheese sprinkled on top.

[you can tell i made up this dish as i went along, right? ahem. i'm proud to say that i had to rely on my keen *coughcough* sense of taste and make adjustments accordingly.]

note: all this 'cooking' was carried out under the observation of carol. (safety first!)

all of this domestic toiling in preparation for?... ballet under the stars!

the moments are far and few between, but on occasion, i do acknowledge that my mind works in ways that most normal humans cannot comprehend. err myself included sometimes. and you can be sure to add my mother to that list *snicker* ---

i adore picnics, have i ever mentioned that? i keep harassing the COT to get their act together and drag their asses down to the botanic gardens one fine sunday morning (i also love sunday mornings, [but preferably in bed {and asleep}]) for a lovely breakfast picnic on the greens - given that i wake up before noon that is *guilty look*

--- and my point was... that despite all the other slightly more significant factors involved in putting a picnic together, all i could think about was the fact that i had the most perfect white picnic-in-the-park dress for frolicking around fort canning in.

*rolls eyes* see, i told you!

that aside, i'm super happy to declare that we had the most scrumptious feast, BY FAR! psst, i sneaked a peak at all the other groups!

note: the one & only time we attended BUTS, we had no idea that it was common practice to come a couple hours earlier and picnic, so we arrived emptyhanded. it was well and truly pathetic. it was all we could do to watch all everyone else (this one group in particular had WINE! & turkey *drools* damn you.) feasting away, in candlelight no less.

so this time was our turn to shine! our picnic was well-thought of/prepared, and immensely thorough in covering all ground ie: wet wipes for sticky hands and in my case, wiping food off my face (hey, it happened!), 10+ packs of tissue (mopping up spills), hand towels (v. useful during the rain), utensils - plate & cups, forks & spoons, 5 umbrellas, tealight candles.. etc

the food: i'm not very sure who brought what, but here goes
daph & sis - potato salad (with raisins), bread, bottled ice lemon/green tea
twins (dessert) - rice krispies in melted marshmallows, chocolate biscuits, chips
chinchin & bf - wine!, green apples, grapes, banana cake, bananas, ice
myself (filler food) - egg mayo, tomatoes in olive oil
rachel - roasted chicken

it was delightful just looking at the mouth-watering spread before us, and even better to put in your mouth! the picnic was the best thing to happen all day, given that it turned out to be more like ballet under the rain, (not a star in sight) rather than ballet under the stars. it was difficult to pay attention to the dancing going on onstage when on the ground, we were all trying to take shelter under our umbrellas and not get wet, plus the water kept rolling downhill and wetting our bums.

and i was wearing WHITE. why do our clothes always get dirty when we wear white? (why is the sky blue and grass green? = just because.) later on in the toilet, i discovered weird looking brown stains all over the back of my dress, thank god i had the foresight to wear shorts underneath.

honestly, the singapore dance theatre could have and should have handled it better. i can hardly remember a thing that went on onstage (the same goes for everyone else!) as the rain got steadily heavier and heavier, and more families evacuated out of the area, we thought that they would have the brains to cancel the rest of the performance and refund us, but NO - the show went on. in the end, they cancelled the last dance. and that was that.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING.

all in all, i had a truly wonderful time catching up with my ballet girls one last time. it's so difficult to gather everyone at the same place and the same time these days. *shrugs* you know us, busy busy.

i love you guys,
i'm glad we all still look and act the same.
i had so many crazy times with you,
i will remember them all.
don't worry, no fake british accents for me!
come visit in UK! *hug*

it's days like these; breezy carefree cool, that make you wanna throw on a prettily embroidered top, crisp tailored shorts, flip flops, strand of colourful beads, wispy little cardigan, dump all your knick knacks into an oversized sack of a bag - and you're good to go!

[too bad, in the midst of all that kooky carefree-ness, i left the cardigan behind - hanging forlornly in my wardrobe. ]

i must emphasize how often i find myself clamouring after the ever-so-perfect weather that was demonstrated earlier on in the day ie; the chilly breeze you feel prior to an approaching storm and/or immediately after a shower has ended.

gen and i have taken on a recent unanimity in our decisions of late. first, the suggestion to stay in, popping out nearby for some takeaway, namely spizza - smoked salmon pizza. [we had sushi instead, fyi. ] the trek over to forum paid off eventually, as we were rewarded not only with no queue hence no waiting period, we were also treated to yummy sushi (that really hit the spot)! also, we both agree that we have no qualms with paying for good food these days. *nods*

second, opting for a long walk home and a quiet night sprawled out in bed with a DVD (hugh grant is ridiculous in music & lyrics!) instead of partying away - as most youngsters would be doing on a saturday night.

AND SO, we feel that we are getting old. fat. and lazy. okay, minus the fat. just old and lazy.

what am i rambling on about? i should be sleeping.
goodnight!

victoria's secret**

dinner was in short, thoroughly enjoyable; delicious food. fantastic company. amazing conversation.

from the scrumptious steaming hot teriyaki chicken + rice to the mouth watering grape-y flavoured concoction filled with strawberry/kiwi/grapefruit bits to the absolutely delightful melt-in-your-mouth cheesecake that reminded me so, of creme brulee. the japanese restaurant is called "sun andwith moon" or something, at wheelock place - lichen's superb recommendation!

it's been awhile since i dined in/with such lovely company, and a while it has been; 9 years to date - since we left primary school in 1998, 8+ if i'm counting properly.

if only all meals could be like this.

i laughed and laughed and laughed, nonstop - all night long my psychotic cackles rang in the air - perpetually in fear of spitting all my food out in the face of the person sitting across me/someone/everyone. it came to a point whereby i had to time my chewing so that it would not coincide with lynette speaking, because knowing her, she ALWAYS has something damn funny to say. even the topic of mr hwang/huang came up, imagine that! (okay fine, fine! that was me)

lynette aka miss globetrotter/jet setter/SIA stewardess very kindly bought me a gift set (without me asking) from victoria's secret *squeal* on her recent flight to japan - she touchdowned on home territory this morning - or was it korea? i can't recall.

the set contains 1) shower gel 2) body splash 3) body lotion in the cutest little plastic pouch with purple leather trim that reads: Victoria's Secret THE SEXIEST ON EARTH

my delayed reaction: "ohmygosh! it has my name on it!!" *gasp* "the pouch has my name!! "it's MY secret!!"

after dinner had wrapped up, we grabbed a cab from yck mrt (another pleasant change; people who live in the same area as i do. how rare.) and yakked all the way back. the topic up for discussion was ex and current boyfriends. the gift of gab that girls have naturally been bestowed with has ceased to leave me in wonderment any longer. i maintain that girls will always have an endless list of things to talk about: shopping, makeup, relationships, travel, work, family etc. it's true it is. i'm living proof.

bottomline: boys suck!

i'm having trouble (with hello) uploading the other images, so this should suffice for now; the housewarming in mention took place like months and months ago (before gen left for aus, came back, left again and came back again) and this is my lau-pok attempt at clearing the backlog of events that have taken place in my life :)

okay, FINALLY! hello's cooperating

for some strange reason,
drea & i are posing with salad dressing!?!

insomnia

bloody hell. blogger has been screwing up wayy too often these days. if this post doesn't come out, too bad. there's no way i'm re-writing this for the third time.

let me see. i'll try to recall as much as i can.

"You want answers?"
"I want the truth!"
"You can't handle the truth!" - a few good men.

last night was pretty screwed up, save for a few good moments scattered here and there over the span of the entire night, the rest is not even worth a mention. i'd rather EAT MY TOES than go through that again. remind me never to believe sarah again when she recommends a 'cool place'- with the exception of last friday's fez bar- or maybe it's just the company that really makes the night.

it started off with a movie star opening. scene 1: enter me, flying out of the house. scene 2: me frantically trying to hail a cab. [keyword being "trying"] scene 3: skirt flying in the breeze as i swoop in on an unsuspecting taxi driver. scene 4: i glide into the taxi and feed him directions all the way out of my complicated estate right till the train station. scene 5: i get on the train, off at town. i meet & greet the girls.

1st choice for dinner was marches, but the queue was too long. up we went, 2nd choice being billy bombers, 3rd choice sake sushi. the fastest moving queue was BB, so we went in. when my hotdog came, sarah kindly and 'gently' reminded me of a certain sam. so there it was, on the table before me and i could do was stare, half-fascinated half-disgusted. i exclaimed,"how do you expect me to eat this after what you've just said?" and laugh she did.

at one point, we came THIS close to losing it. i was discussing my sausage and sarah; a certain part of the male anatomy, respectively. broc was the only one getting it. both of us thought we were talking about the same thing, but remaining on completely different frequencies. her: "it's so TINY!" me: "it's SO big! i can't even put it in my mouth!" her: "WHAT?!!? did you say what i think you just said?" broc: "wait, what are you talking about?" me: "my sausage" them: "ohhh.. "

boys. relationships. breakups. bastards. break my heart's. drive me crazy's. he's so hot's. argh. been there, done that. on and on they chattered, incessantly might i add. given my inexperience and unfamiliarity with the topic(s) at hand- boys. sex. gay boys. gay sex- they were talking more amongst themselves then with me. at one point, i was so bored, i lay my head down on the table- in the middle of a supposedly hip happening live band club- the band had not arrived yet let alone started playing. i could've downed my gin&tonic, grabbed my bag, swung my legs off the high stool and walked out of insomnia, all done in class, style and grace *smile* without a single soul noticing.

something worth mentioning: after paying for my unreasonably expensive drink, i decided i was going to get someone to buy me a drink. broc and sarah were unexplainably amused by this campaign of mine. they said that in any other country in the world- maybe, in singapore- the chances of snowing are higher. they were all ready&set to watch me make a fool of myself. BUT my game plan was to remain where i was, not doing a single thing to lift my butt off the stool, yet still get someone to offer to buy me a drink. i know how it sounds, and yes it did not happen. but i figure we left too early to tell. hah.

broc casually made this remark,"you used to be so boy-crazy. now you're so... dead. what happened to you?" i suppose i can make the comparison between myself and those underage clubbers; when you start young, you get jaded fast. after awhile you get bored with the lack of wit and intelligence surrounding you and look for something else to occupy your time. in my case, primary school was probably too early huh? why is it ALWAYS about them DAMN MEN? yeah, notice the rhyming at play here.

i'll TELL you what happened to me. it's not that i loved him or that he meant alot to me. it's not that i was so heart-broken that i had difficulty moving on with life. it's that he showed me what a fking bastard guys are capable of being. it's that he singlehandedly proved that myth wrong: the first times are the sweetest. yeah riight. sweet my tanned ass indeed. it's the bitterness that's the hardest to swallow.

so&so kissing in the tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G. first comes love, next comes marriage. then comes so&so with a ba-by carriage. a more accurate depiction of that ditty would be: i'll skip the whole kissing tree shite, it's more like K-I-L-L-I-N-G anyways. first comes hurt, next comes anger. then comes me with a voodoo doll, a wooden stake and a book of spells to curse him into oblivion. and that's just the alcohol talkin'.

whatever happened to single young females "girls just wanna have fun" type of nights out?

since we're all about the truth, i'll hand it to you on a silver platter. right here, right now. about the whole SIP shit, i don't want to talk about it because in all honesty, i'm pissed off. i'm honestly pissed off that she's better than me. that she turned down an incredible opportunity, to fight for the same job. i'm pissed off that she's not as scared as i am about going head-on with me/her. i'm pissed off she's so damn good. i'm pissed off that i have to fight for something that was supposed to be mine, SOLELY mine.

you: i really wish i knew what was going on in your head babe. i wish you could just be honest and talk to me, like last time. is it because you think i like him? i don't think i do. i think it's impossible. a silly infatuation, based on the tiniest of meetings. i'm giving up on them men. honestly. i'm gonna kick back, relax, put my feet on the coffee table (even though my mum has banned that) and read a magazine. i've said it a billion, done it less than ten. but based on what broc said, i guess my 40days&40nights thing may have been in effect all along, even while i thought it wasn't in operation. about the other one, i don't like him. it's not my fault he feels the way he does. it's not my fault he's getting on my nerves, even though i know he's a sweetie at heart.

the outfit: i absolutely ADORE what i wore last night. broc said,"it's so YOU."

the hot pink and white striped knit halter top with collar and adjustable tie at the waist. BYSI.
the light and fluffy white tiered skirt. far east.
the faded denim gathered jacket with light pink rose embroidered on left chest, press stud collar. hk.
the white open toed flats with pink stitching at sides. trendyzone.
the sister's camel-coloured shoulder bag. MANGO.

new pictures.

she's straight! she's straight!

the first half of yesterday, was a flurry of all things pink, heart shaped objects and vintage jewellery.

on receiving the sms from quek notifying me that they were going to catch 'taxi' before 'the forgotten', i did an about turn, rang sarah up and decided to tag along on her wild shopping spree for FREE (for seventeen magazine).

being the fashionista that i am, i had pulled out several potential outfits for the outing the night before (i used to plan my outfits months in advance).

the jacket
1) my new white jacket with the dramatic lapels and large buttons

the tops
1) brown mandarin collar-styled cheongsam knit top with a pink oriental print (bysi)
2) violet tube with gold sparkles and lacing at the back (flea market)
3) black & white off the shoulder top with black sparkly designs and zips at the shoulders (hk)
4) pink-ish off the shoulder midriff top with purple & white prints (worn over a white top or the violet tube) (morgan)
5) HOT pink & white striped halter top with a collar and tie at the hips (bysi)
6) white handkerchief chiffon halter with pink & purple flower prints (urban & co)

the bottoms
1) faded jeans with my white butterfly belt

the shoes
1) white open toed flats with pink stitching at the sides
2) black & hot pink heels with velcro at the toes

the bags
1) black miu miu leather bag
2) hot pink clutch
3) CD white & pink carryall

the accessories
1) black chandelier earrings
2) turquoise mosaic chandelier earrings
3) silver hoops
4) CK watch

we went on our hunting spree and in the midst of it, i ran into the cute salesguy working at sponge far east, again. my guy radar was sounding alarms, being astoundingly accurate and efficient as usual, alerting me of his presence. i still can't tell if he's malay or eurasian, probably the former. the last time i saw him, i was with virginia and we were in joint affirmation of his cuteness. you know how sometimes you just know that someone is watching you out of the corner of his eye? i swear he was watching me as we ascended on the escalator.

we went to get a bite. sarah-hokkien mee. me-mee goreng. both-lemon tea. the people eating there did the usual and stared as we walked past. and they say singapore is a country that practices racial harmony. we were both in hearty agreement of the large-and-unfinishable portions, especially the fried rice. we both ate and ate but our plates did not seem to get any emptier. after a long while, she started laughing while watching me stare blankly at my spoonful of mee goreng. i was just loading it in, like rubbish to a dumpster. she asked me to give up the impossible hopes of clearing out my plate and put down the spoon. and so i did.

we left. i got cold. sarah took out this blindingly hot pink furry thing (sweater) and offered it as a temporary cover up. she said," this is all i have." i stared at it as if i would rather die, then grudgingly put it on. it was one of the pink items she had borrowed from the shops. i walked around with my head down low and what do you know.. cute salesguy was right there! damn it. i ducked into the nearest shop under the pretext of seeing something on her list, and started unzipping the sweater. but on second thought, it might seem as if i was trying to bare myself and attract his attention- especially since he already caught sight of the pink furry thing- so i zipped it back up and suddenly the floor seemed very interesting.

we took a cab to heeren continued where we left off. i caught sight of marcus, i think, working at one of the heeren shops while trying desperately to trail after sarah as she zipped in and out of shops. hours later, i left to meet quek at cine. i completely forgot i was just across the street and inquired if she could drop me off on her way back to the office. anyway, i saw the cute bouncer (CB) with his friends while on my way out. i was right. i wouldn't notice him on an ordinary day, with my guy-radar performing up to standard and all. [please remind me of this the next time i meet someone in the dark] later on, my sharp eyes caught the vaness-wannabe with yet another wifebeater, a hairband and some girls! eee. emphasis on the hairband.

the movie was weird. maureen and i were debating its impossibleness/realisticness with shanee and quek. personally, i think we put up a good fight. we trudged to macs to fulfil maureen's ice cream craving and then to starbucks to fulfil mine. the usual hot cocoa for me. i have NO IDEA why i decided to pay the 5 cents in cash and the $4 by nets. *shrugs* all i know is that i caused alot of trouble. i felt SO bad. the guy at the counter was scurrying with the receipt and all i could do was apologise. i kept saying," i'm SO sorry. i didn't know it would cause so much trouble." and luckily the manager, i think, said that it was alright and that he had served a guy who used 3 different forms of payment before. i felt a bit better at that. as i left, i heard him tease the counter guy about something. ah. what the heck.

after they found a table, we sat down and shanee went to make her order. when she returned, she suddenly psst-ed," you're a bi and quek's your girlfriend." i didn't even hear her the first time round. she repeated it once she was properly seated. i was totally huh-ed? out. quickly she explained," the guy at the counter wants to hit on you. so we said you're bi." again, HUH? the guy at the counter wanted to hit on me and get my number, so the cute TINY little waitress psst-ed shanee," quick. hurry up! say she's bi! just say she's bi!" and so she did.

i could not believe it. i just laughed. it's hilarious- the situations we unwittingly get ourselves into. shanee also mentioned that the guy was ugly. heh. evil girl. but yeah, if she didn't say it, i would've made the enquiry anyway. at that precise moment, quek started gesturing to herself and nodding at someone. i turned to look, it was the cute tiny waitress. haha. i could not help myself. i laughed louder and louder until the whole table felt like it was rocking. i had to cover my mouth with my hands in an attempt to stop people from staring at me weirdly.

a little while later, shanee said," she's coming over! she's coming over here!" she never reached our table. because before she did, she apparently blurted out, "oh! she's straight! she's straight!" *laughs* the guy had disbelievingly sent her out on the mission for my number and to not have to go through with it, i suddenly became straight. hmm.. funny how my sexual preference went from boys to girls/boys back to boys within the timespan of less than 20 minutes.

we made a move after our drinks had long been finished. as we left starbucks, i spotted the cute tiny waitress sitting with her friends outside. they all watched us leave *smile*

an interesting end to an interesting day.

the trip up to dempsey's hut

"an indication of your busy-ness, is when you can't seem to remember what day it is."

and i can't remember what day it is today.

i woke up. correction: i was woken up. i had macs nuggets for lunch. quarelled over the custody of the 2nd packet of curry sauce. finally settled on the trade off between the packet and playing a few rounds of midtown madness on his XBOX. i think it's suffice to say that i got the better end of the deal. *wink*

i made a huge fuss over them not satisfying my craving of the moment: pepperidge farm's soft baked dark chocolate chunk cookies. hello? who wouldn't? just reading that makes me drool incessantly+imagining the dark chocolate chunks melting in my mouth is pure TORTURE. i can't wait to get my hands on them! i will just die, D-I-E if i don't get my hands on them and them in my mouth!

next up: i decided to play house. i vacuumed my room and even generously offered to do my mum's room too. i'm a very weird girl. i'm not a closet weirdo, i'm an out-in-the-open-full-blown one. i could stay in a pigsty (specifically my room) for months at a go; with clothes, 1/2 used clothes (clothes that i've used once or twice but intend to use again), undergarments, bags, towels, shoes, books, papers, fabrics, projects++ taking up at least nine-tenths of the floor. and i wouldn't lift a finger to do a damn thing about it.

there was one point of time, at the peak of school submissions, when my entire floor was covered in rolls and rolls of drafting paper, all my work, schoolbags and sewing materials. i was completely disabled from walking about properly. i was practically wading in my work. i had to tip toe, skip from an empty space on the floor to the next empty space, do the long jump/high jump.. etc ANYTHING just to get to and from the door.

you see.. i could live like that. if i had to.

that's not the weird part. as i've explained, i could live like that for months at a time and not feel the need to clean up the mess. BUT, once every pink moon, i'll snap. yeah baby, just like that. it always always happens in the middle of the night. why can't i be like normal people and snap in the daytime? no.. i have to choose to snap at 3 or 4am. trust me, once i snap, there's no turning back. (hey, it rhymes!) i'll be like some posessed woman, digging out the vacuum cleaner and all the cleaning detergents. let the cleaning begin. i'll clean and clean and suck up every single molecule of dust until my room is spick and span, and i'm left half dead, lying on the floor.

last night, i snapped. today, my inner housewife got her chance to vacuum. (somehow, i managed to force the post-snapped me to abandon all thoughts of vacuuming at 3am)

had a lovely dinner with sarah and her family. we ate at jerry's along club street. it was nice and quiet, surprisingly, but pleasant all the same. the food was amazing! i LOVE baby back ribs, it has been awhile since i last had them. i still remember the first time. daddy brought us to tony romas. i miss that place. i miss having dinner with my family.

i'm a meatatarian, and proud of it.

the coversation was on freeflow all night. i'm not surprised that sarah's sis and i share more than our first names in common. apparently, i'm not the only one who finds seamus o'grady HOT. *sizzle sizzle*

after dinner, we went up to this deserted bar place thingy. had a couple of drinks. it would've been more pleasant if i wasn't constantly on guard for those pesky mosquitoes. the hot bartender was compensation enough *wink*

i seem to be running out of things to say. just for today. so i'll end it with this.
