what's the one good thing that could possibly come out of having a ringtone that you'd hear in a club?
this, funny incident #1: i was perched atop the toiletbowl when my phone started ringing from inside my room (right across from the loo) when the funky sounds of 'promiscuous girl' played out, i just couldn't help myself. my body subconsciously started shaking from left to right, until i realised i was full-out dancing. madness. WHEE!
funny incident #2: i called up the printing centre at sunshine plaza to check up on the progress of my namecards - i went there last week to get them done but ended up emailing the files over - plus a call yesterday confirmed my fears (he forgot!)
so backontrack: i call again today and the first thing that pops out is, "hello can i speak to the old chinese uncle please?" to which the woman repeats (while laughing), albeit a little disbelievingly, then calls out to the old man in question all the while muttering amusingly "wah hen can eh" which means something like "wah liao that's so pathetic."
okay alright, i never said i was a first-rate intepreter so you'll just have to bear with my loose english-chinese translations.
the next thing i hear is the old man exclaiming loudly on the phone, "ni xiang si ah!!", surely you know that means "do you want to die?" followed by "she me old chinese uncle?!!?!?" = "what old chinese uncle?!?!?"
the conversation rambles on then ends.
minutes later, i ring them again to enquire about something else, this time i ask quite politely to speak with 'the uncle' she helpfully adds "lao lao fei fei de uncle ah?" me: "ah" = "yes".
she kindly informs me that he has gone out. said in her own words: "ta chu qu le, you ren jiang ta old chinese uncle, ta qu zi sha le." = "he went out. someone called him an old chinese uncle so he went to commit suicide."
me "ni kai wan xiao ba!" = "you're kidding!!?!"
and so the story goes.. etc. but seriously, i mean seriously, can you believe it? a printing centre with a sense of humour man! haha. i find it frickin funny actually.
