you know how they say families talk the same -- every family has a special brand of talk.
meaning: every family has a particular way of talking that is unique to the members of that family alone. yada yada.
while on the phone today, my mother burst into a fit of very un-iris tan-like giggles. "OH MY GOD. OH-MY-GOD. OHMYGOD! WHAT A SMALL WORLD!!"
god. she sounds like virginia and myself. [my thoughts]
then came aunty geraldine's, "happy as a toad." comment.
classic. i swear i could hear denyse (my cousin, her daughter) in that line.
even i couldn't control the spurt of laughter that ensued, following my mother repetition of that line over and over again, in obvious disbelief and simultaneously laughing madly. hilarious.
what i wouldn't give to hear my mother laugh like that more often. hearing her so happy makes me happy too. i haven't heard her laugh that way since, err. i can't even remember.
the other night, jobi was over at my place helping me with my work when carol said,"really meh?" in response to something one of us said. immediately, jobi exclaimed excitedly ,"carol sounds/talks just like you!"
so indeed, the theory proves true.
now i can go be 'happy as a toad.'
