"are you above 18?"

today, i purchased this pair of absolutely to-die-for heeled ankle boots. my virgin pair.

pre-purchase: i'm standing at the cashier while she informs me about some in-store card (FOC), the discounts you receive etc, it works just like a credit card - you simply pay off the bill at the end of the month. apparently they do this alot in the uk.

when it comes time to fill in my particulars, she hesitates before asking, "are you above 18?" to which i wryly reply (with a small smile on my face nonetheless), "i'm 21." she then laughs to cover her embarrassment,"you must get that alot huh" i laugh, responding that for us women, it's most definitely a good thing. mandi bounds along and i relate the tale. mandi exclaims,"see, i told you you look young!"

*snicker* i just find it so amusing.

fyi: i couldn't sign up for the card because i haven't been here for 2 years. the cashier was such a sweetheart, she gave me a 10% student discount - one other thing i love about the uk.
