i was so touched by a recent television advert with this song playing in the background, as it showcased photographs of singaporeans and their loved ones, experiencing brief moments of magic. i teared up.

in the video, when they lie atop each other naked, as husband and wife, all i see is a love that is pure and true. yoko ono is often cited as the reason the beetles broke up, but in many ways, she was his muse, the beginning of all his beautiful songs and for that reason alone, we should be grateful. for the world would be a lesser place without them.

the kind and gentle person that john comes across in his beautifully written, honest and touching lyrics, seemed to have an inborn/natural insight into mankind and our actions - making the entire world his inspiration. even in the handwritten scribbles at the bottom of the page (on his website) he was very real, very much human - just like all of us.

even then, he seemed like the kind of person one could not help but fall in love with.
