MOVIE REVIEW: CAPOTE.

MOVIE REVIEW: CAPOTE.

i entered the cinema, with no prior knowledge of
a) the show i was about to see b) the critic's reviews c) the storyline.
it was a since-we-can't-get-tickets-to-munich-let's-settle-for-capote-instead
type scenario.

thrown headlong into the movie (we were 10 minutes late), i spent a good half hour or so trying to chase after the plot/characters.. generally everything that was going on. who's gay who's not. you know.. that kinda thing.

gasping for air after what seemed like an almost-eternity trying to grasp the plot, i finally managed to relax and flow with the show.

after capote ended, the audience remained in their seats, chins resting on their hands, some looked pensive, the others just confused.

the ending was somewhat abrupt.. but what else is there to expect... as with the death of the two inmates comes the inevitable finale. it IS based on a true story and there is only so much you can play around with before you have to wrap it up and say,"that's all folks."

though i have to admit, i cannot quite fathom why everybody says philip seymour hoffman's oscar is well-deserved. i have nothing against him, but frankly, his acting irritated me. you have to see it to believe it. i'd much rather the oscar have gone to a more deserving candidate.

p/s: his voice annoyed the hell out of me. haha.
kudos to anyone who can tolerate it for longer than 10 minutes.

but anyway, to each his own. you might just emerge from the cinema, viewing the world in a whole different light. it could well be THE movie to change you for life. who knows? *shrugs*
