dark water and exploding milo.

*EDIT

of all the stupid, ridiculous things i've done (notice i didn't use the word 'crazy' cause that's a whole other ballgame) in my lifetime, this nearly trumps all. if that's anything to go by, wait till i tell you what i did last night..

i flooded my flat. (by flat, i mean room)

i have no idea how i did it, but i did. i've always been aware of the painfully slow pace at which my shower drains itself, but i had no idea it was THAT slow. let me retell the sordid tale, this is all i know anyhow: i got out of the shower. the first thing i noticed was, my flipflops, FLOATING (lazily drifting by) on the bathroom floor. standing in my shower stall, i felt like a castle surrounded by a moat.

fuck fuck fuck.

i immediately started scooping/soaking water up using rags and wringing it in the toilet bowl, as briskly as possible. obviously not briskly enough. when stuff finally stopped floating in the toilet, i stepped out into my room and oh. my. lord.

my entire room was wet. the water had spread from the toilet all the way to the door (entrance of my room), it pretty much reached my wardrobe, desk (my papers left on the floor were wet) and bed. shit. complications arose: the floor is carpeted you see, so it wasn't simply a matter of mopping up the mess.

i had to use towels, super absorbent sponge-things and lay them all across the floor. everywhere i walked, i could hear soggy squishy sounds. it was that wet. i spent god knows how many hours laying towels, stepping on them to soak up water, wringing them out in pails. pause. repeat. it got to the stage where my hands were red and raw, and it hurt just looking at them. they still feel a little numb today actually.

it was dreadful, an absolute nightmare. yet at the same time, i found the situation downright hilarious. as i was soaking up the water, i was laughing to myself thinking: this shit could only happen to me. seriously, seriously!

i left the heater on the entire night, and today when i left the flat as well. thank god the water didn't creep out of my room and into the hallway of the flat. my flatmates would've thought some evil liquid a la dark water was trying to kill everyone or something. bad thoughts.

right now, my worst fear is if the floor beneath the carpeting got wet too. i do not look forward to mouldy floorboards and termites. AHH! :(

... AND my milo exploded in the microwave *the look*
