you know what brought upon this little outburst? that guy on the 'DEAL OR NO DEAL' advert with adrian pang. he seemed like a typical singaporean dude, right up till he opened his mouth and out popped an american accent. in that instant, he became ten times more appealing.
same goes to guys at clubs; i can't explain it. it's happened before you know, i'm dancing with my girls, oblivious to everything and everyone when a guy suddenly appears before me: he looks like any other chinese dude around, but surprise surprise he starts speaking with an aussie accent. i inexplicably stop doing whatever it is i'm doing (usually i'm prancing around) and sit up and pay attention.
having that accent could mean a variety of things, but mostly it boils down to life experience. someone attaining an accent usually means that he/she has spent some time living abroad/travelled around the globe (for work or whatever reason)/is likely to be open to the idea of travel, is more knowledgeable, well-read, has lived life and seen the world. which is always good. oh right, and the majority of them usually speak better english - a definite plus point.
